Historienne de l’art spécialisée en photographie et critique d’art, Nassim Daghighian (1969, CH) est licenciée ès lettres à l’Université de Lausanne en 1995 (Master of Arts). Membre de l’Association Internationale des Critiques d’Art (AICA) depuis 2012, elle a notamment publié des articles dans art press et 9 Lives Magazine. Elle est également membre de Spectrum – Photography in Switzerland, www.photography-in-switzerland.ch.
En 2011, elle crée Photo-Theoria, plate-forme dédiée à la photographie contemporaine, et publie un magazine en ligne éponyme de 2015 à 2022, www.phototheoria.ch.
Depuis 1997, elle enseigne la photographie contemporaine, l’histoire de la photographie, l’analyse de l’image, la communication visuelle et les bases des marchés de l’art à l’École supérieure d’arts appliqués de Vevey (CEPV).
De 1998 à 2004, elle a été conservatrice associée de Photo Elysée, Lausanne, où elle était responsable de la communication et de la médiation culturelle.
Dès 1998, elle s’engage dans la promotion de la création contemporaine, en particulier comme membre fondateur et présidente de near de 2009 à 2013 (www.near.li – association suisse pour la photographie contemporaine). Elle est curatrice de Near Documentary (2009), la première exposition organisée par l’association.
De 2008 à 2015, elle est rédactrice de Next, mensuel d’actualité photographique édité par near. (72 numéros). Elle a mené plusieurs interviews de personnalités du monde de l’art publiées dans Next et dans Photo-Theoria.
Nassim (نسیم)  est un prénom féminin d’origine iranienne qui signifie la ‘brise’ en Farsi.

Photo-Theoria is a platform dedicated to contemporary photography created in 2011 by Mrs Nassim Daghighian, art historian. It was also a webzine (2015-2022).
Etymology: The Greek theoria (θεωρία) meant ‘contemplation, speculation, a looking at, things looked at’, from theorein (θεωρεῖν) ‘to consider, speculate, look at’, from theoros (θεωρός) ‘spectator’, thea (θέα) ‘a view’ & horan (ὁρᾶν) ‘to see’.
I hope that this website will offer you the opportunity to look at images longer than usual…

Nassim Daghighian (1969, CH) is an art historian specialized in photography (Master of Arts at the University of Lausanne, 1995). Since 2012, she is a member of AICA – International Association of Art Critics and a member of Spectrum – Photography in Switzerland, www.photography-in-switzerland.ch.
Since 1997 she teaches at the School of Applied Arts in Vevey (CEPV) : contemporary photography, history of photography, visual communication, image analysis and the basics of art markets.
From 1998 to 2004, she was associate curator in charge of communication and education at the museum Photo Elysée, Lausanne.
Since 1998, she is involved in promoting contemporary artists. She is a founding member of near – swiss association for contemporary photography (www.near.li) and was its president for five years (2009-2013). She was the curator of the first exhibition organized by near during Festival Visions du Réel, Near Documentary (2009).
From 2008 to 2015, Nassim Daghighian was chief editor of Next, the monthly newsletter edited by near (72 issues). She has conducted many interviews of artists, curators or directors of institutions, which have been published in Next and in Photo-Theoria.
