Photo-Theoria est dédié à la photographie contemporaine, l’histoire de la photographie, l’analyse et la théorie de l’image. De 2015 à 2022, c’était également un magazine en ligne sur l’actualité artistique. Cette plate-forme a été créée en 2011 par Nassim Daghighian, historienne de l’art.
Petite étymologie du mot : en grec ancien θεωρία, theoria (contemplation, spéculation, regard sur les choses) vient de θεωρέω, theoreo (examiner, regarder, considérer), θεωρός, theoros (spectateur), thea (la vue) et ὁράω, orao (voir, regarder).
Ce site, qui propose aussi bien des textes que de nombreuses photographies, vous offrira, je l’espère, le plaisir de regarder longuement les images…
Les documents de Photo-Theoria sont disponibles sur ce site en PDF ; ils sont mis à disposition des lecteurs pour un usage pédagogique individuel privé non commercial ; prière de respecter les droits d’auteur et le copyright des photographes, artistes et auteurs cités dans ces documents. Merci !

Since 1997 she teaches at the School of Applied Arts in Vevey (CEPV) : contemporary photography, history of photography, visual communication, image analysis and the basics of art markets.
From 1998 to 2004, she was associate curator in charge of communication and education at the museum Photo Elysée, Lausanne.
Since 1998, she is involved in promoting contemporary artists. She is a founding member of near – swiss association for contemporary photography (www.near.li) and was its president for five years (2009-2013). She was the curator of the first exhibition organized by near during Festival Visions du Réel, Near Documentary (2009).
From 2008 to 2015, Nassim Daghighian was chief editor of Next, the monthly newsletter edited by near (72 issues). She has conducted many interviews of artists, curators or directors of institutions, which have been published in Next and in Photo-Theoria.
Nassim (نسیم) is an Iranian woman name meaning ‘breeze’ in Farsi.
